Basel, Switzerland, March 2025: To honour the tenth anniversary of its Escurio line, Davidoff Cigars releases a complex limited gran toro cigar. The blend is composed of well-aged Dominican tobaccos and Brazilian Bahia tobaccos with a combined age of 45 years. This includes a filler tobacco that has been refined in a bourbon cask for added sweetness and depth. The Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition is Davidoff's second edition that celebrates a significant milestone of the Black Band Collection and reinforces Davidoff's leadership and pioneering role in blending cigars with tobaccos of different origins.

In 2013, after Davidoff's Master Blenders had ventured out into the world in 2013 in search of new taste sensations outside the Dominican Republic, the brand diversified its portfolio with the launch of its Nicaragua line. It was the first Davidoff cigar carrying a black band and Davidoff's offering to those aficionados seeking a more intense palate stimulation. In 2015, the brand launched its Escurio line with Mata Fina tobaccos from the Bahia region in Brazil and tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, to further expand its range. Released as the second line of the Davidoff Black Band Collection, Escurio not only offers a medium-intense taste profile with a salty-sweet stimulation, but also four cigar formats not found in any other Davidoff line: The Petit Robusto, Gran Toro, Corona Gorda and Gran Perfecto cigars, which have been well received all over the world and are complemented by the ever-popular Robusto.

Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Limited Edition

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the legendary line, Davidoff releases a limited-edition gran toro cigar that adds even more complexity to the Escurio experience, featuring a blend of Brazilian and Dominican tobaccos with a combined age of 45 years. "Our large and diverse inventory facilitated the creation of this special cigar", says Edward Simon, CMO at Oettinger Davidoff.

By adding our well-aged Brazilian tobaccos, we not only distinguish ourselves in terms of stock, but in terms of a unique taste experience where the spicy Brazilian tobaccos dynamically mingle with the creamy Dominican tobaccos. For extra depth, we have fermented one of the Dominican fillers in a bourbon cask, which gives the cigar a beautiful sweetness.

Taste experience – a samba of flavours

The cigar is a true testament to its different origins and the different water supplies that affect the soil composition: The Bahia region in Brazil is characterised by a humid and salty environment due to its proximity to the sea. This, combined with harsher and more erratic rainfall, produces tobacco that is more robust and spicier in taste. The Dominican tobacco plants benefit from fresh water sources and more regular weather conditions, which is reflected in the creaminess and overall smoothness of the tobacco in a cigar. Together, the tobaccos create a dynamic play of flavours that is enhanced by the gran toro's larger 56 ring gauge, which allows the Brazilian and Dominican filler tobaccos to take centre stage and treat aficionados to 60 to 70 minutes of beautifully filled time.
